Caught Grinning - 19

This was on 24th August 2007 09:39 AM. Just after we drove past Bandipur wildlife safari point, and as we headed towards Mudumalai, there was this elephant herd appeared in front of us on the road. This caretaker or mahout was moving along with them. And then suddenly this little calf was on the ground and we thought he was beating it. But he was actually cleaning the soil from its body with a plant bunch. So for a moment we were displeased, but then we had wide grins back on our faces - and then I quickly clicked this frame.

Caught Special - 18

Where: At Srirangapatna
When: 02/Jan/07, Tuesday, 09:20 am
What: These two ducks were having their first morning swim on Cauvery River by the side of Amblee Resorts, Srirangapatna. A clean frame with just water alone visible, and the shady sunlight on the two ducks. And this almost "trademark" pose of the two ducks, which I actually got after a long wait focusing on them and following them with my camera.
How: Konica Minolta DiMAGE X50

Pigeon Surprise 6

What to say... it was a tragedy, yet again!

For the first 3-4 days after the little ones came to see light, they were all happily feeding and growing up etc. It was a nice sight for us all days and nights.

But on day 5 we first found both chicks on the floor, down from the pot soil. We wondered how the mother brought it down.

The very next day, one was missing suddenly. We suspected that it might have walked to close to the balcony edge where there is a gap through the grill, and probably it might have had a fatal fall all the way down from our 4th floor (level-5 actually!). But there was no way we could confirm. It was, just, missing from the scene!

And, again, the very next day, our son saw the mother grabbing the other little one and trying to fly out of the balcony grill, and, lost grip of the chick -- while on flight! The chick fell on to the balcony railing of the floor below us! But... luckily, it seemingly survived, even after that. However... a few hours later... we did not find it there. Disappeared from the scene!

That was the end of Solomon Grundy!

How sad.

Caught Grinning - 18

At Hebbe Falls, Kemmangundi, on 24th March 2012, while crossing a water stream, I casually clicked this picture.

Later, we were surprised when we noticed that the depth in the picture is almost invisible, and hence it seems as though my son is carrying my wife on his hand by holding her hair. A completely unintentional frame, shot with such an unexpectedly perfect timing - It caught us with wide grins.

Take a look at the full picture and then the zoomed-in view!

Pigeon Surprise 5

Well, here is the good news finally!

The pigeons, after we aborted their project, not once but twice (yes, a second time again) in our main balcony, they chose our son's other balcony! In another plant pot! It laid exactly two eggs again, they both took turns to brood them for the past few weeks...

And finally, ahoy, here we go... The eggs hatched yesterday... Here are the new little ones ahoy! Take a look and feel good!
