future applications for e-Readers in India?
1 If the cost of an e-Reader is affordable for every lower middle class family student then, e-Readers can successfully replace the books provided an e format of all those are available2 Text editor, PDF creator3 Audio book4 Bill payments5 Tablets6 5 in one college text book set. Portable college bad (as it contains all required text books)7 Gadgets for people with disability to read the books (through Audio interface) esp. for blind people8 Can help People with Cerebral Palsy or Autism to phrase words and sentences to communicate in their own regional languages9 Access to library via e readers fun e learning process as a service with e-Readers10 Low-cost handy portability makes learning easier illiteracy rate can be reduced11 Easy access of information by students portable no weight and so no backbone problems because of carrying heavy bags to schools and colleges12 More novels and study books will become e-Books in a bid to rate paper and the environment.13 Can be developed to be used to read comics and to download music.14 Introduce reading in optimized screens. 1 Worthy survey. I had been planning to buy an e-Reader. But confused whether to get an e-Reader or a PDA, which ill be an all-in-one gadget (cell phone, music player, camera, internet access device, gaming device, camera and of course an e-Book reader), with quite a big touch screen and many more features.2 This survey on e-Readers could offer benefits to young generation of India. This should be self motivating and successful in many areas. I believe that it creates social impact by not cutting trees and wasting papers. I wish all the best.3 While we see that e-Readers might save lot of trees, it also can generate lot of e-wastes, radio frequency pollutions, etc. However on the other hand we can make it as an useful means to PWD (People With Disabilities) especially in India. 10% of the population assumed to be disabled of which 70% of them are in rural areas. If we can understand the real need of these people, then there is a huge market potential to help them to communicate, and to do their normal day-to-day activities. This is already named as "Assistive Technology (AT)" and the AT products are expensive at present. The main pain is affordability for the PWD in India. Then the post-sales technical support, and then the awareness. All these are possible only by establishing a value chain in which the solutions can be co-created for the PWD. If you look at the term "Technology" the trend since 4 to 5 decades is that people pretty much use the computers to do what human beings had always done, only faster. If we can make something that people can use the computers what human beings had never done before, it would be one way to look at. This is to break from the usual "Faster" mode to something "Unique". It might even be addressing the "Wants" of the people. Another way to look at the term "Technology" is to assist people who could not do their normal activities as majority of the people do, like talking, communicating, typing emails, reading books, writing, etc. In this second definition of Technology, the meaning itself changes from the usual "Faster" to something "Simpler", "Less-Expensive", "Easy to operate and maintain", "Non-hazardous", and more importantly it might be something that addresses the "Needs" of the people. My humble opinion is instead of triggering the "Wants", addressing to the "Needs" would satisfy both givers and receivers of the "Technology". There is no satisfaction and no end to the Greedy Wants. Whereas there is a Satisfaction and Smile in the Needs. These are just my 2 paisas (or nickels). :) Kindly take these comments positive. :)4 e-Readers, if cost wise economic, can be made usable for many applications.5 e-Readers are very useful to students6 e-Readers are not popular in our country due to the lack of awareness among people... This can be eliminated by giving e-Book readers and smart phone free of cost or in a low cost.7 It is interesting &it spreads awareness among college students8 If this survey leads to reduction in e-Reader price we'll be benefited9 Its a survey creates awareness, so every one must know the importance of e-Reading10 e-Reader is very useful for future.11 It is too good12 Survey is so good13 NO COMMENTS14 e-Learning will be very useful for students...15 FASCINATING TO GET AN E-READER SOON16 Creates awareness about e-Reader17 This survey is useful to know about positive and negative effects of e-Reader. It gives the valuable information about the e-Reader.18 Nothing special19 All the very best.20 Something to know about the e-Reader21 I welcome such move to get surveys from people of all cadres. But, I personally feel making everything modernized in the name of technology only implies we are only ready to live a lethargic life. If this trend continues, we would be the country with more no of patients, more no of people with less presence of mind, unaware of moral values and we would be prepared to lead a machine life losing our sixth sense. It is a perspective of a patriotic Indian.22 Survey was good23 Yes, this survey is important right at this time, planet Earth must be saved from deforestation and to improve knowledge of the people.24 Good survey. e-Learning has been influencing lives of many people and will surely continue in future.25 Good approach to get feedback from all26 Please create more awareness27 Waste of time28 A very useful one...29 Needed survey; then only we can improve ourselves in the case of e books30 It’s really a nice survey... I got a lot information regarding e-Reader. It will bring awareness among people.31 Good Work. Please make e-Reader essential. So that paper can be saved :):)32 Let this survey be successful!!!33 It’s good to use e-Readers to be eco friendly...34 One important aspect left out. Will the e-Reader is good for the human eyes as we have already have enough of them, like phones, PCs, TVs etc.35 It is nice. I think so it is useful to you.36 e-Readers used to improve our knowledge. This survey gives the awareness about e-Readers to the people. this survey used to reduce the paper wastes and save trees37 Nice survey, we knew more things about e-Book38 This survey is to reduce the printed books then it is used for increase the green society...39 Hope, this survey will create awareness to the students in India about e- Readers.40 e-Reading habit should be explored in the world41 Nothing... but if it is implemented from school level means it will be easy for upcoming children...42 Nice survey. It is very important to everyone43 This is a nice way to know awareness about e-Readers among people.44 It is nice to know about the information of e-Readers
